Megan and I took a week out to vistit our relatives in Falkirk and explore the local regions between Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and some of the lakes around the Trossachs.
We had an amazing time and enjoyed a wide variety of photographic opportunities.
I found the IBIS in my R6ii very useful while walking around Edinburgh. It won’t ever replace a tripod, but it does help hand held in low light. It also gives a few stops of stabilisation to non IS lenses like my EF 135mm f2.0 L.
My new EF24-70mm f2.8 L mk II lens is a continuing journey for me. It’s astonishingly sharp lens. However, the min focus distance is a bit of a problem and I really need to remember to take my 12mm extension tube with me. It’s got great sunstars when shooting “contre jour”, However flare and ghosting is a bit of a problem with it.
My EF100-400mm f5.6 LIS II is prooving to be a bit of a legend for me. It’s an amazing lens. Sharp, 4 stop IS and a great zoom range. I can focus in really tight…it’s just a bit of a monster to lug about. I put a UV filter on this lens to protect the front element. But it seems to optically interfere and I’ve had to remove it.
The EF11-24mm F4 IS is another lens that has impressed me greatly this season.
