Megan and I have had to return to Sri Lanka to urgently assist my Mum and Dad. My Dad was diagnosed with late Stage MDS, which developed in an aggressive Leukemia. His health deteriorated rapidly and he died in Kandy hospital a few weeks of my arrival in Sri Lanka. The rest of my time here has been arranging his funeral and cremation, numerous financial accounts. Ensuring the properties here are secure for my Mum, her income is stable and her accounts to be accessible. Obtaining death certificates and the various documentation required by uk law to register his death.
While here, I knew I would have some downtime. So I brought my wildlife and birding gear. I would be limited to my Mum’s garden and the nearby Paddy field. Which is great, there are a few White Throated Kingfishers here that are very shy. The garden is filled with Red Vented Bulbuls, numerous varieties of song birds (some are nesting nearby). A rather splendid nesting White Browed Fantail, who puts out a rather amazing display / dance. A few paradise flycatchers and even the odd Peafowl / Peacock.
While my time here was very specific, I managed to add some really nice examples to my personal bird portfolio.
Most were taken with my EF 400mm f2.8 LIS II with either a 1.4x TC and a 2x TC. A few were taken with my 100-400II L and a 1.4x TC. My Camera of choice was my EOs R6ii.
